What You Will Do

The Co-Curricular Class Aide (CCCA) works with the Art, Music, Physical Education, and/or Technology Teacher(s) to provide high-quality instruction to Achievement Prep scholars. In conjunction with the Co-Curricular Teacher(s), s/he plays a very active role in ensuring that scholars receive the support and engagement necessary to excel as high-achieving scholars. S/he is responsible for supporting the Co-Curricular Teacher(s) in planning, instructional delivery, classroom management, and assessment.

 

Reporting to the Co-Curricular Instructional Coach, you will:

 

Class Support

  • Assist in planning and implementing daily program for co-curricular classes, including preparing needed materials and supplies
  • Lead small- and whole-group instruction in partnership with the Co-Curricular Teacher
  • Uphold the Achievement Prep standard for classroom management and instruction when the Co-Curricular Teacher is absent
  • Work with the Co-Curricular Teacher(s) in maintaining an orderly space and a well-kept inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Communicate observations and/or concerns regarding scholars’ progress to appropriate individuals
  • Complete any necessary data collection in an appropriate, accurate, and timely manner
  • Communicate frequently with families of scholars you serve
  • Manage time, tasks, deadlines and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and hold others accountable for the same

 

Continuous Development

  • Work with colleagues on a daily basis to improve scholar achievement
  • Improve professional practice through regular formal and informal observations, weekly coaching sessions, weekly professional development and data-driven reflection
  • Participate actively in weekly professional development sessions, grade-level meetings, content team meetings and other opportunities to analyze scholar work, data, and goals
  • Receive continuous feedback from peers and school leaders on your practice and be expected to give the same

 

General School Support

  • Implement the Achievement Prep behavior system with fidelity
  • Engage in additional school-wide responsibilities, such as lunch/recess duty, hallway posts, events committees, etc.
  • Receive continuous feedback from peers and school leaders on your practice and be expected to give the same

  • Maintain a culture centered on our ethos and core values of Determination, Respect, Enthusiasm, Accountability, and Mastery
  • Exhibit an unwavering commitment to high academic achievement and character development in our scholars
  • Be on campus, when scholars are present in school, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM MTThF and 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Wednesdays; be available to participate in occasional required professional development on Wednesdays from 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Attend and support events during the school day and in the evenings (monthly) that invite families into the building

 

Be willing to take on additional responsibilities as necessary to fulfill Achievement Prep’s mission for our scholars 

 

You Must Have

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1+ year of experience working with children in historically underserved communities

 

It Would Be Nice for You to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ year of experience in an urban school environment

This position is compensated on an hourly basis.
